VI-grade to develop VI-DriveSim together with Ansible Motion

VI-grade GmbH, maker of the VI-CarRealTime real-time dynamics simulation tool, has announced a strategic partnership with Ansible Motion, a UK-based designer and manufacturer of professional motion platforms, to develop VI-DriveSim, a driving simulator technology.

VI-DriveSim is a driving simulator characterized by what its creators claim is a revolutionary design. The simulator, which targets both racing and commercial vehicle applications, is based on a lightweight design and very efficient kinematics. With its extremely low payload platform height, the simulator is much more compact than conventional hexapod-based driving simulators and is easy to transport and install. The simulator takes advantage of the real-time vehicle simulation capabilities provided by VI-CarRealTime, and provides to the driver extremely realistic accelerations for every maneuver. The patent-pending simulator, currently under development, will be available in mid 2010.

“We are excited about our strategic partnership with VI-grade,” said Kia Cammaerts, technical director, Ansible Motion. “Thanks to the compact design of our hardware, characterized by high mobility, low platform mass and high acceleration-velocity-stroke capabilities, we will contribute to the development of a revolutionary driving simulator suitable for motorsport and commercial automotive applications.”
