Danisi Engineering makes significant investment in dynamic driving simulation system

June 28, 2016 – Danisi Engineering, an Italian engineering services company that specializes in chassis systems, has opened its Advanced Vehicle Dynamics Center (AVD) at its facility in Nichelino, on the outskirts of Turin.

The AVD features a dynamic driving simulator based on technology provided by VI-grade and its partners. The technology includes VI-DriveSim Static, the driving simulation solution based on the VI-CarRealTime and VI-GraphSim software technologies; as well as DiM (Driver-in-Motion), a dynamic driving simulator developed by VI-grade and engineered and manufactured by Saginomiya, based on a 9-DOF mechanical design. Both simulators adopt a cockpit derived from a Maserati Ghibli.



“Investing in these technologies and processes is key. We are sure that – in the mid term – the market demand for these development and validation activities on ADAS systems and self-driving solutions will increase remarkably”, said Giacomo Danisi, owner and CEO of Danisi Engineering.

Above: The simulator allows engineers to drive different types of vehicle models with dedicated cockpits on a variety of tracks and roads, in different weather conditions. The system includes a 7m screen, three projectors and a professional sound system. The dynamic simulator features a 9-degrees of freedom motion platform, very low latency (about 15ms from driver action to motion), frequencies up to 50Hz, a large dynamic range with 2.5g planar and 3,5g vertical accelerations, on top of the large payload to support representative cockpits (>700kg)
