Vauxhall introduces IntelliGrip electronic traction control

For its Grandland X SUV model, Vauxhall has introduced IntelliGrip, a fully electronic traction control system, as a lighter weight alternative to a conventional all-wheel drive system. The system has five independent driving modes to choose from (normal/on-road, snow, mud, sand and ESP off), selectable via a central dial. For each setting, the IntelliGrip system adapts engine and transmission control, torque distribution and ESP for optimal contact.

The IntelliGrip system adapts torque distribution to the front wheels according to the selected mode, allowing slip when necessary and changing the accelerator pedal control map.
