Bordrin Motor – ADAS active safety engineer

Southfield, MI, USA

• The Active Safety Engineer will be involved in leading the development of the future semi- and fully-autonomous driver assistance systems and enablers
• Responsible for electrical system design, specifying requirements, execution and evaluation of designs, analysis, development, testing and control
• Lead effort to develop a system level DFMEA
• Lead design reviews of system level work products (DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, requirement reviews, validation plan reviews, validation report reviews, etc)
• Lead the team through problem-solving activities (8-D, 5-Why, Reactive Problem Solving, etc)
• Design and manage key strategic interfaces within systems to enable component reuse and adherence to best practices
• Work with the various engineering disciplines to develop and integrate self-driving capabilities with the car's powertrain and actuation systems
• Use DOORS requirement management tool and Matlab/Simulink modeling for requirements capturing
• Support definition of communication parameters for sensor Camera, RADAR, LIDAR and other sub-systems
• Support the negotiation of requirements, change requests, and unwritten expectations with vendors and other engineering teams
• Own the system design and requirements at the system level and support development at the sub-system level
• Develop detailed timing plans to track work products and tasks
• Support design for manufacturability, manufacturing builds, and launch


• BS degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or other engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university
• Minimum 10 years of related engineering experience
• Minimum five years of hands-on experience with sub-systems and systems level development related to LKA/LKS/ADAS products
• Familiar with active safety assessment process of C-NCAP/EU-NCAP/NHTSA
• Proven experience in requirement management tools (DOORS preferred)
• Proven experience in modeling (Matlab/Simulink preferred)
• Proven ability to apply the V-model development process
• Proven competency in Systems Engineering - Active Controls, Communications Protocols
• Trained in both DVP&R and DFMEA creation and execution
• Good problem solving skills
• Strong technical, written, verbal and presentation skills
• Ability to generate, analyze and interpret systems requirements and other technical specifications
• Ability to generate, analyze and interpret validation data and results
• Ability to work independently and in team environment to achieve maximum productivity

Preferred qualifications:
• Master of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or other engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university
• Experience in developing sensor Camera, RADAR, LIDAR and or WIFI/GNSS/Cellular fusion frameworks
• Experience with ISO26262
• Experience with Cyber Security
• Experience with Design for Six Sigma
• Knowledge of Wireless Technologies LTE, UMTS, 802.11 ac a/b/g/n, Sensors, SoC and communication interfaces I2C, RS232, USB, Ethernet, CAN
• Working knowledge of OEM or Tier1 development process
