Chassis Digital Dynamics Engineer

As a Digital Dynamics Engineer in the Chassis team, you will have ownership and freedom to conceptualize, specify and deliver various safety-critical mechatronics systems for the digital dynamics area.  You will have development responsibility for two of the three primary actuators used in delivering fully autonomous vehicles in response to high level commands from the on-board systems.

Review and develop processes for the conceptualization, specification and delivery of various safety-critical mechatronic systems within the vehicle;
Review and develop best practices in vehicle & system control, system integration and security;
Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Byton and in external Supplier groups;
Support internal and external functional safety activities;
Predictive verification of system performance where appropriate using a wide range of tools, including but not limited to first principles analysis, 1-D modelling and complex numerical methods such as hardware-in-the-loop testing;
Review and develop design verification plans for systems, subsystems and components;
Organize and prioritize the execution of design verification plans with internal and external test resources;
Support overall vehicle development milestones and prototype/production build events.

3+ years of experience in safety-critical mechatronic systems;
BSME required; MSME preferred;
Industry knowledge of digital automotive chassis systems;
Knowledge of in-vehicle data acquisition systems and signal processing;
Self-motivated, with a desire to continuously improve and learn;
Proven ability to think clearly and from first principles when presented with unfamiliar engineering issues;
Strong car control and evaluation skills and the ability to develop such skills in others;
Demonstrable ability to support projects with tight timing constraints;
Knowledge of and interest in adjacent disciplines, eg core vehicle dynamics, chassis mechanical design.
