AP Racing armors up

Armored vehicles are just one of the niches being explored by brake and clutch specialist, AP Racing. The UK-based company is working with leading names in the sector such as Project Support Vehicles, providing heavy-dust aluminum calipers and discs such as those on its stand at the expo. Cast iron is also being revisited as a caliper material, in order to provide sufficient strength in applications where smaller wheel sizes are used.

Other notable current projects involve electric vehicle manufacturers, for whom high-efficiency, low-drag, lightweight brake products are being produced, as well as clutches. On the braking side, AP’s new ‘high-rollback’ piston seals are helping keep the brake pad away from the disc when not in use, without – says the firm – compromising pedal travel and bite.
