Eye-tracking technology incorporated into simulators

Simulation specialist, VI-grade, is teaming up with Smart Eye, a manufacturer of eye-tracking technology, to introduce eye tracking into the high-end automotive simulator market.

The eye-tracking devices are a component of VI-BioTelemetry, a set of tools designed by VI-grade to record and evaluate human reactions and body responses to specific driving scenarios. Together with a series of cameras located on the dashboard to record eye movement, VI-BioTelemetry includes a heart rate measuring device and gloves equipped with sensors that measure skin response. The solution combines dedicated hardware and software equipment for data collection and processing with a full integration within all VI-grade driving simulators.

“This strategic partnership is an important step in the direction of increased understanding of driver behaviour in automotive research and development”, stated Martin Krantz, CEO of Smart Eye.
