1997: Thrust SSC hit 763mph


October 2019 marks 22 years since the Thrust SSC team set the world land speed record of 1,228km/h (763mph). This remarkable vehicle became the first and only car to reach speeds faster than the speed of the sound, with Andy Green – its arguably even more remarkable driver – at the controls.
