Rimac Technology has promoted Nurdin Pitarević from the role of chief operating officer, to chief executive officer, with Marko Brkljačić assuming the role of chief operating officer as the company enters a new phase of growth as a global Tier 1 supplier.
Company founder Mate Rimac, who previously served as CEO of Rimac Technology, will continue in his role as president of Rimac Group but will focus more attention on Bugatti Rimac, where he also serves as CEO.
“Nurdin has proven himself as an exceptional leader during his time as COO and as my deputy in leading Rimac Technology,” said Mate Rimac. “He combines deep operational expertise with clear strategic thinking and a strong sense for people and culture.”
The transition follows a year in which Rimac Technology delivered tens of thousands of battery and powertrain systems to customers and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners, securing multiple new programmes with global automotive manufacturers. The company has previously announced partnerships with BMW Group and Ceer Motors, alongside several mid-to-high-volume OEM programmes under contract or development.
Since joining from one of Europe’s largest Tier 1 suppliers, as COO Pitarević led Rimac Technology through a period of rapid industrialisation and operational scale-up, transitioning multiple programmes into series-production.
“Our focus is on building a technology leader that scales responsibly – combining innovation, digitalisation, sustainability, strong organisational foundations, and sustainable profitability,” said Pitarević. “With new programmes entering series production and a strong pipeline ahead, this is the right moment to accelerate our trajectory.”
As CEO, Pitarević will lead Rimac Technology’s strategic roadmap through 2030, centred on advanced electrification technologies and digitised operations. This includes the development of next-generation battery technology featuring solid-state cells in collaboration with a global technology partner, alongside continued expansion of production capacity.
The new COO, Marko Brkljačić, brings experience in operations, digital transformation and strategic execution, having previously served as deputy COO at Rimac Technology and in senior positions at Tokić Ltd and Rimac Automobili, including head of strategic projects and chief of staff.
“Our focus is on ensuring consistent execution, empowered teams, and systems that support long-term, repeatable success across all programmes,” said Brkljačić.
Rimac Technology’s facility in Croatia is operating at full capacity across multiple shifts, with five new production lines already underway and scheduled for commissioning over the next two years. The company is in advanced discussions with several OEMs on new programmes spanning pure electric and hybrid powertrains.
