Lotus Emeya R+ sets a new EV lap record at Sepang circuit

The lap record shows the Emera can combine everyday practicality with genuine track capability

GT driver Daniel Lu has set a new record at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, driving the Lotus Emeya Emeya R+ model, also known as the Emeya 900. Lu completed a lap of the track in 2:20.317, which more than seven seconds faster than the previous EV lap record at the circuit.

Sepang is no easy circuit, with its 5.5km layout combining long high-speed straights with technical fast and slow corners. It is a great test of power delivery, braking performance, aerodynamic stability and chassis balance.

“The track has always been the ultimate proving ground,” said Chong Yok Meng, senior director for chassis and vehicle dynamics at Lotus.

“Setting the fastest EV lap at Sepang reflects the dedication of our engineering team and our commitment to delivering exceptional driver engagement, precision and performance. For us, this achievement isn’t just about speed – it’s proof that our electric vehicles embody the same dynamic principles that have defined Lotus for generations.”
